We left for DuPont around 10:30 to go to a sweet person's house to play with her two wonderful boys and sweet baby girl. Things were great at the playdate, LOL. We had lunch (turkey gyros), and I had a great time talking with another mom. The kids got to make a sand art project. Something I would never do at my house. This mom is such a great mom with her kids and she is awesome to talk with. We left her house and that's when things started to get crazy.
We left and didn't have time to go to the commissary to get our dinner. I had lobster on the menu tonight. It was no big deal, because I had plenty of time after I picked the kids up from school to run back to the commissary. I drove down to Mickey's school, and was able to get about 15 minutes of reading done. Matt fell asleep, Delaney was playing her DS, so things were good.
As I was waiting for Mickey, I noticed a strange sound coming from my car. No big deal, I thought it was the radio. Then I got Mickey and was ready to go on my way. I noticed that down by my feet the mat was wet. We drove off. As we were driving the door locks started making noises. We got to Alison's school and then something else made a noise. Then I smelled something burning. UGH !!!!!!!!!!!!! I parked the car and got the kids out and didn't know if the car was going to blow up. Just what I need is our car to blow up. It didn't...it just didn't start either.
I called a few people, then I called the dealership. Luckily, when I bought the beast, I went against my dh's wishes and got the extended warranty. I called a tow truck, and they came. We only sat in the car for 2 hours. 5 kiddos and 1 mom in an excursion for 2 hours. Not my idea of a fun time. Oh, did I mention it was raining. So of course no playing on the playground waiting for the tow truck. If we were in Alaska, we could have played in the snow. But NOOOOOOOOoooooo, we live in Washington, where it rains. My kids ask me why it rains all the time. I tell them because it's Washington, and that's what it does.
Amanda, Piper's mom, came to pick us up in her her 8 passenger Honda Pilot. Yes, we all fit; yes, it looked like a clown car. We came home and ordered chinese. We had a special surprise from Amanda. She brought dessert, little heart cakes with our names on them. We all felt very special.
I never had a chance to go get my lobsters. I will get them tomorrow, I guess. However, I will not have anyone to share the 2nd one with.
I guess today turned out to be a normal day. On a normal day, I do not eat lobster.
Eat them both! You deserve it after today. Thanks for having us over for dinner even though you had a horrendous afternoon. And I am so glad the cakes made you feel special...you are!
